︎ Class: Architecture on Stage
︎ Instructor: Caitlin Dippo

The stage as an architectural opportunity proposes that the body and the built environment instantaneous engages with each other. Designed elements can be temporary or permanent, supporting the movement of the body, create atmosphere, and be an active presence in the performance. Questions were posed: in what way can the body and its movements motivate a design? How is a temporary stage element a part of the overall performance?

Initial inspiration was drawn from two performances: "Girlfriend is Better" from the Talking Head's Stop Making Sense concert and Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance."

This amalgamation culminated into an "Alice in Wonderland" stage that provided 360-degree views and featured costumes built right into the set.
